German School of Madison

The German School of Madison is a parent-organized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We offer German summer camps and school year language classes for pre-school and school-aged children, as well as adults, in the greater Madison area.

All of our classes are taught in German. Classes for school-age children follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Initial student placement is based on age and school grade (the grade they enter in the fall of the given school year). To accommodate different proficiency levels, we try to keep our class size between 4 and 10 students. Several of our classes are designed around a two-year curriculum; students will typically stay in these classes for two years.

For more information about our classes, please visit our website and select the current school year under "Classes and Registration."

Additionally, we offer half-day summer camps for children entering grades 1-6. At this time, we do not offer organized playgroup sessions for families with very young children.  However, we are happy to connect German-speaking families with young children with each other.  Please send us an inquiry via e-mail, and we will forward it to our Spielgruppe contacts.
