YMCA Discovery Day Camp Northeast

Provided by
YMCA Dane County

Discovery Day Camp (DDC) is all about learning skills, developing character, making friends with a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. DDC is the true outdoor experience, that allows children to explore what nature has to offer. Children engage in hiking, fishing, archery, and many other camp activities, rain or shine. Our summer day camp teaches independence, responsibility, environmental respect and passion for nature.

Week 1 | July 17-21 Let the Fun Begin Welcome to summer 2019! We'll kick things off by getting to know each other and prepping for a summer jam-packed with adventures!

Week 2 | June 24-28

Ooey Gooey

Ooey, gooey and nasty too! Campers will need their old clothes and be prepared to get messy, sticky and grossed out!

Week 3 | July 1-5 (No camp July 4)

Party in the USA

It’s our camp celebration of America during this red, white and blue-packed week. Campers will enjoy food contests, Olympic inspired games and fun crafts while learning about the USA and what makes us amazing!

Week 4 | July 8-12 Creation Station

We’ll tap into our engineering brains and our creativity through a variety of STEM-based challenges. Campers will enjoy paper airplane construction projects, bridge-building, structure design and much more!

Week 5 | July 15-19

Splish, Splash

It’s time to get soaked as we splish and splash through a water-filled week. Summer is hot, but campers will stay cool with water balloon games, water relays, lots of swimming and more.

Week 6 | July 22-26

The Great DDC Carnival

Join us for the 2nd Annual Discovery Day Camp Carnival! We will spend the week learning traditional carnival activities like balloon animal-making, juggling and face painting. It all leads up to our own carnival with games, a bounce house, cotton candy, a dunk tank and more.

Week 7
July 29-August 2

Planet Earth

It’s our home, and this week we’ll study the awe-inspiring planet that is Earth. We’ll surround campers with the sights and sounds of the world and its natural beauty and use a variety of activities to inspire, excite and instill respect for the world around us.

Week 8 | August 5-9

In It To Win It

Campers will divide into teams and create their flags. Our teams will earn points through fun competitions, silly activities and physical and brain power challenges based on the Y’s core values.

Week 9 | August 12-16

Tiny Chefs

Calling all junior chefs! This week, our campfire transforms into a kitchen as we learn to cook foods over the fire.

Week 10 | August 19-23

Welcome to the Jungle

They’re loose! Our campers will escape to the wild as we explore amazing animals from bugs to bears to reptiles.

Week 11 | August 26-30

Until We Meet Again!

Summer’s nearly over, and school starts soon, but that doesn’t mean we can’t go out with a big HOO-RAH! In our final week of camp, we’ll celebrate with our favorite games and say goodbye to a fun summer with a hearty, “See you next year!”
