Humane Heroes Club

Provided by
Dane County Humane Society

Children ages 7 to 15 are invited to join our youth volunteer club, Humane Society Heroes! Sign up today and help homeless animals while having fun, too! Humane Heroes complete service projects for the shelter, meet and learn about different kinds of animals, and so much more! All sessions meet at the DCHS Main Shelter Classroom, 5132 Voges Road and are two hours long.

All Humane Hero members receive the following during their membership:

  • A subscription to our Humane Hero Headlines, a monthly e-newsletter
  • A Humane Hero pin

Creature Companion package: All above items, plus 5 volunteer dates for $40

Pet Partner package: All above items, plus 8 volunteer dates for $60

Animal Ally package: All above items, plus 12 volunteer dates, your photo on our youth volunteer board, and a Humane Heroes t-shirt for $100

Humane Heroes t-shirts can be added to the Creature Companion or Pet Partner package for an additional $15

The membership fee includes the specified number of volunteer dates, member benefits, and project supplies. Please complete this registration form and email it to the DCHS Humane Educator at or call (608) 838-0413 ext. 115. Membership fees are non-refundable.

After you become a Humane Society Heroes member, you must contact the DCHS Humane Educator to sign up for each volunteer date that you would like to attend.

If you have any questions, or would like to learn the upcoming Humane Hero volunteer dates, please email the DCHS Humane Educator at

There are three different levels that a child may sign up for, and the fees are dependent on that level. A Creature Companion package is $40 and is the smallest package, a Pet Partner package is $60, and the largest package, Animal Allies, is $100.
To register, please complete the registration form on our website and mail it to the Humane Educator at DCHS along with payment.
