Our Community Based Program is as simple as spending time with a child. Big Brothers Big Sisters matches caring, responsible adult volunteers with children primarily from single-parent, low income homes and encouraging the relationships so they develop into close mentoring friendships. The adults involve themselves in the lives of their Little Brothers or Little Sisters by taking an interest in what they are doing and by serving as role models and confidants. Matches get together every 7-10 days for 3-5 hours and do fun things both the Big and Little enjoy. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, have a vehicle, valid drivers license, and car insurance. A minimum commitment of 2 years is required. We enroll children in the program between the ages of 6 - 13; once a child is matched with an adult volunteer they can participate in that mentoring relationship until the youth turns 18 or graduates from high school.
