At the Academic Learning Center, our goal is to equip students for success both in the classroom and in life, while actively working to reduce the academic deficit among children of color in Dane County.
Founded 18 years ago by Ms. Chris Hodge, a retired principal of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), our program has continually focused on empowering students through mentorship, tutoring, and comprehensive academic support for those in grades K5 and up. By fostering relationships within our community—students, families, schools, and local organizations—we create a nurturing environment that emphasizes the importance of academic excellence.
Located on the South side of Madison, the Learning Center has made a positive impact in the lives of so many students who are now adults; and continues to be a beacon for the scholars who currently attend.
