Organization Name

Arts and Literature Laboratory

Organization Description

Arts + Literature Laboratory, a contemporary art gallery on the east side of Madison, offers a comprehensive arts and literacy education program for children and teens ages 3-18.  We also offer classes for homeschooling children and teens, as well as adult programming.

Fine arts classes include 2d and 3d experiences: watercolor and acrylic painting, drawing, contemporary collage and assemblage, and sculpture.  Literacy classes include playwriting, poetry writing, and comic book making. Adult classes include memoir writing, illustration and drawing, painting, and children’s book writing.

The benefits of arts-integrated education extend well beyond its incredible value as an outlet for creative expression; arts programs promote literacy by building vocabulary, phonological awareness, and critical thinking!  We inspire young people, teens, and adults to use their imagination and to create. We believe it’s not enough to inspire students to want to learn. We create a welcoming and open space for them to think creatively, discover new practices and modes for expression, and offer a community space for all to connect.

Scholarships and financial aid are available.
