Program Description

Schumacher Farm is a Dane County Park and 120-acre living history farm museum and conservancy just north of Madison. Schumacher Farm Park serves as an outdoor classroom for people to learn about historic rural lifeways, nature, and ecology. The park includes the farmstead’s spacious and shady grounds, a 10-acre prairie restoration, heirloom gardens, farmhouse museum, farm machinery exhibits, picnic tables, hiking trails and sandbox. Chickens are tended during the summer months.

Schumacher Farm will again be offering a summer camp in 2019 on August 6 - 8, from 9 am - 3:30 pm. Ideal for children 6 - 11 years old. Try out what life was like on the farm during the 1920s and 1930s to gain insight into the modern world and explore nature during hikes in the prairie and woodland. Each day will consist of hands-on, interactive learning activities and demonstrations in the morning and free play, collective games & homesteading crafts in the afternoons. Creative play and teamwork will be encouraged.
